omg we need a VAWA in New Zealand. Both Domestic Violence & Child abuse are a huge problem here.

I could only ever support a Violence Against Women law if a law providing equal resources to stop violence against men was also being added.

Female victims of violence are not more deserving of help than male victims. The mere fact that I almost feel afraid to type that sentence says volumes. We need to bury this outdated, proven-false narrative that male = abuser, female = victim. It's sexist and harmful to both genders.

ALL victims deserve help and compassion. Gender should not be a factor.

That is why we need to educate law enforcement enforce principles and knowledge of rights of both parties. Men are abused as well as women, but not in statically speaking. Men dont report abuse, they live with it. Women are victimes by force not by choice of being embarrassed like men are, but by fear of death to her children or herself. True some women have learned to use the system to cause havoc to men. That is why again..Law Enforcement must be educated in this matter.

    Imagine a country where

you could be forced from your house and kids based solely on a lie.

you appear in court, guilty until you prove yourself innocent.

you if you cannot afford and attorney, one was not provided to you.

you cannot subpoena evidence by those that accused you.

your “Trial” is not done by a jury of your peers.

where even if you prove yourself innocent, your accuser is never held accountable for their actions.

You don’t have to imagine, it is the USA under VAWA.

I love mariska and she is right. Everyone we care about is a possible victim. What happens when your love one is attack and they denied to help them? i though we were all men and women were created equal. Do not restrict to help only certain people. All people have the right to be help and in my eyes we are all the same inside and we should be treated the same no matter what people have to say!

I support the need for a revision of this law and understand why it was originally created. However, when people say that it should stay the way it always was, I am inclined to disagree. Since the VAWA was introduced it has become clear that discrimination is not just towards women, but also towards men. It is the people that deny this fact that many MRA's are angry towards, because denying male discrimination and violence towards men is inherently unequal.

when I read some of these women-hating comment-it underscores the need for this Act. the comments about"feminists' show a great deal about the men who write them. I am a happily married(for30 years) feminist who dearly loves the men who I am close to. Many of them are wise, kind ,compassionate people who would not lift a hand to hurt anyone-and some are even NRA Republicans! However, I have also been on the other side, have been assaulted in relationships as a young adult. We need this law.
