What a fantastic video. I searched high and low and could only find animations of the surgery to come. Had the surgery over 2 weeks ago. Hip was more painful, but was weight-bearing a few days later. Very hard and painful to swallow, but thats also back to normal now already. I can't sit up for very long, spend most of the time laying down flat on my back. Supposed to be back at work in 2 weeks but unless i can sit up for longer without the pain getting 2bad, ill take more time off.Thanx 4 vid!

I had this done with the bone chip from my right hip about 6 years ago, and then had to have a 2nd one done with the plate and screws 2 1/2 years later. All has gone well until now....I believe that I have more damage again,(all the same symptoms, pain..numbness)and will be getting this checked into soon. I am hopeful that I dont have to do this yet a 3rd time

38Squid, I can feel my plate too. I also had this surgery with my own right hip bone being used. What an ordeal. I pray I never have another disc rupture! HORRIFIC NERVE PAIN! :-( I'm good these days except for a raspy throat (feel like I have to clear it a lot) and for some reason, certain foods/liquids still bother me.
EEeesshhh! I had this done to me oh hell about a year and a half ago. I can feel the plate on my neck usually in the morning when I wake up, kinda like you have to clear your throat feeling. I cringe watching the video but am thankful I am not DEAD and can move about freely. I was in the hospital for a day and a half after the procedure.

Sometimes the plate and the screws do pullout from the vertebral bodies. U must have a X ray film of the cervical spine.

I had this in 1991... crushed my C5-C6 vertebrae in a football accident... removed the damaged bone, bone graft from my right hip, titanium plate over it for stability... I'd never seen it live what my neuro surgeon did to me... amazing. God bless doctors for how they can help people.

i hope u did well with this surgery; when this one is for trauma, sometimes the cord has some injuries.

I was just wondering if there was a spinal cord monitor present in this case?

don´t worry it is easier than it looks like, and when it´s for disc disease, sometimes it is shorter.
Good luck.
