Here's my new DRD Racing Heads built 2276cc air-cooled, naturally-aspirated VW engine. On this pull it made 201 HP at 6k. It also made 176 ft lbs of torque at 6k. Should move my light bug through the quarter in 12 seconds.

  • How much did this motor cost?

  • Which part? I did upgrade the ignition (which was about $600) I'd say all together about $7,000 give or take....

  • is it drivable on the street?

  • Yep. I didn't drive it much, but I did drive it several time to work and back in rush hour (Chicago - warm in the summer!)without any issues. I have an electric fan on an external oil cooler and that DID kick on during the hot days once the oil temps hit 180. The head temps are warm, but not overly hot. I think a mix of pump and race gas might help some, too.....but I was just running 93 octane pump gas.

  • What are the specs?

  • 2276cc, 10.2:1 compression, Webcam 86c type cam grind w/ 1.4 rockers, 5.4" H-Beam rods, Weber 48 IDF carbs, Custom 1 3/4" exhaust by Tiger at A1, Custom heads by DRD racing heads (44/37.5 valves). Runs on pump gas. Warner

  • It doesn't look like either of these two clowns who replied to your post answered your question. The 2276 was never run in any VW. Biggest was a 2000cc in the bus and a 1600cc in the Bug. 1600 has 85.5mm pistons and 69mm stroke. 2276 has 94mm pistons and 82mm stroke.

  • OMG FAKE!

    kidding

  • Why is that question funny to you? All you could have done was to say 2.1L air cooled, modified. No wonder the world are in such state, because of people like you that can't keep snotty comments to themselves. You'd rather make a comment and try and look cool.

  • That i one clean engine...ad it runs so smooth. Damn I love old air-cooled engines...
