It doesn't look like either of these two clowns who replied to your post answered your question. The 2276 was never run in any VW. Biggest was a 2000cc in the bus and a 1600cc in the Bug. 1600 has 85.5mm pistons and 69mm stroke. 2276 has 94mm pistons and 82mm stroke.

Why is that question funny to you? All you could have done was to say 2.1L air cooled, modified. No wonder the world are in such state, because of people like you that can't keep snotty comments to themselves. You'd rather make a comment and try and look cool.

How much did this motor cost?

Which part? I did upgrade the ignition (which was about $600) I'd say all together about $7,000 give or take....

is it drivable on the street?

Yep. I didn't drive it much, but I did drive it several time to work and back in rush hour (Chicago - warm in the summer!)without any issues. I have an electric fan on an external oil cooler and that DID kick on during the hot days once the oil temps hit 180. The head temps are warm, but not overly hot. I think a mix of pump and race gas might help some, too.....but I was just running 93 octane pump gas.
