HMS Duncan launches into the river Clyde, Scotland on 11 October 2010.
The seventh Royal Navy vessel that will bear the name Duncan is the last of six 'hi-tech' Type 45 Air Defence Destroyers being built by BVT Surface Fleet Solutions on the River Clyde. Laid down on 26th January 2007 Duncan was launched on 11th October 2010 -- exactly 213 years after the Battle of Camperdown -- by her Lady Sponsor, Mrs Marie Ibbotson, wife of the Deputy Commander-in-Chief Fleet Vice Admiral Richard Ibbotson. It is anticipated that Duncan will be commissioned during 2013 once fitting out, sea trials and acceptance by the Royal Navy has been completed
