NAVAL AIR SYSTEMS COMMAND, LAKEHURST, N.J. -- Navy test pilot Lt. Christopher Tabert takes to the sky July 27 in an F-35C test aircraft launched by a steam catapult for the first time. CF-3 is the designated carrier suitability testing aircraft, and is in Lakehurst for catapult and jet blast deflector testing. The F-35C is the carrier variant of the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter, and is distinct from the F-35A and F-35B variants. It has larger wing surfaces and reinforced landing gear for slower catapult launch and landing approach speeds and deck impacts associated with the demanding carrier take-off and landing environment. The F-35C is undergoing test and evaluation at NAS Patuxent River prior to eventual delivery to the fleet.

  • I just noticed:

    It's on a land boat.

  • Not quite as fast as the steam ones but it works.

  • @26873547 didnt u read IF IT WAS POSSIBLE.

  • Yeah the only F-35 ABC prototype that can hover midair while shooting ground target was lost. That one is the baddest one yet. It has twin vulcan cannons right under the jet intakes, and extreme horizontal maneuverability! The overhead turbine not being able withstand concrete was a huge design flaw.

Now, the new F-35 turbines is made with razor sharp adamantium metal, so it'll slice and dice any concrete / bird/ crap that goes to the engine.

  • @rolandtran I guess I have found the most stupid person in the fucking internet... F22 is way better than F35 in air combat.. Learn the facts first....... ps. if your comment was sarcastic.. then forget :D And also you fail... landing with on an aircraft carrier with the cables does not hurt the pilot.. Even turns in combat make way higher Gs.. Clearly you don't know shit about aviation ;)

  • @rolandtran10 F-22 doesn't land on carriers.

  • @26873547 dpends how fast ur going to land example: IF this is even possible... F-22 landing using arrester cables will be extremly short which WILL increase G force THAT WEILL affect the pilot in the cockpit.

  • @wultor1 well no duh dumb ass.

  • @rolandtran10 you fucking idiot? Do you even know why doesn't the Air Force want F22s anymore?? It was because of the cost of the machines.... -.-' F22 is way better than F35 in air to air combat.. F22 = fighter and F35 = multi purpose

  • @rolandtran10 I never said anything anout it affecting the pilot and arrested landings do not increase G-force
