FFXIII-2 chocobo racing

Since FFVII the series has gradually lost it's depth. VIII had much fewer minigames and replaced interactive set pieces with cutscenes. X got rid of the world map and vehicles and halved the number of characters and locations. XII had no minigames and a half assed story. And finally XIII got rid of towns, limit breaks, quest objectives, side missions, most of the spell library and any sense of adventure and world development. It's amazing that no game since VII has had chocobo breeding or a theme park.

With FFXIII-2 they are adding back in what many fans missed - interactivity. Interactive narrative. Level design with towns, puzzles, platforming and adventurous dungeons. Minigames. Fun strategic combat with monster capturing like dragon quest. FFXIII was merely cutscenes, corridors and boring combat. But it should not just be discarded, here's how Square Enix should put it to use.

With the new time travel mechanic it doesn't have to interfere with the narrative. Travel to the future to an arcade/theme park or travel to the past to when Cocoon was still habitable. SE have a chance to put an end to the era of wasted potential that was XII-XIV. Now Versus, Type-0, Deus Ex: Human Revolution, hitman, thief, and so on are actually ambitious games and XIII-2 could even compete critically with the best western RPGs.

@Avid777Shintas > playing Halo, Uncharted, Killzone, and Gears of War because you were robbed of a proper childhood. there's ABSOLUTELY NO adventure any of those games. i will never understand why this generation enjoys them so much. it's gonna be an AWFUL time when nobody knows what Final Fantasy is because they're too busy playing the newest Call of Duty modern warfare 40. Games have gone to crap with the creation of FPS.

funny thing is although this was released far before the release of 13-2 it has the music they decided to use in the game for chocobo racing
