@Blarvtooth1 Not necessarily. If you made the spin off focusing on Dougal, all you'd need is a sound-alike so that they could have a phone conversation closing up the loophole.
And otherwise, it isn't like it hasn't been done before. More recent Star Wars video games don't have James Earl Jones as Darth Vader. It's a guy from Wisconsin that impressed Lucas with an uncanny imitation. It makes sense, too: James Earl Jones is 80 yrs old. This guy's 38. A similar tactic could be tried here.

I know I am going to get a lot of detractors for saying it, but I always thought that after all the crap Ted went through, maybe they should have let him go to California...with the unfortunate twist that DOUGAL will be promoted to Monsignor, of course.

This was the very last Father Ted episode. Dermont Morgan (F. Ted) died suddenly of a heart attack just a few days later during a party he was giving at his house. He was only only 46 years old.
