Chicago's FIRST Adult Hits station (one of the first in the US) and probably the most interesting with the most variety "Nine FM" (WKIE-FM, WDEK-FM, WRZA-FM) under a lot of critisism managed to stay on the air for 4 years. During its last days the 9PM-5AM hours were leased out to "Dance Factory" which played dance music while Nine FM remained on the air the rest of the time.

In October of 2008, just before the 2008 election, Newsweb Corperation opted to drop Nine FM and replace it with a simmulcast of its full market, but daytime only AM signal WCPT which runs Progressive Talk. This is the last few minutes of Nine FM before going to Dance Factory that evening. The next morning at 5AM, the simmulcast of WCPT began.

The last song was obviously intended to be "Kiss This Thing Goodbye" by Del Amitri but ended up being "Crush" by Jennifer Paige, likely an homage to the "WKIE"call letters' 10 year run with "Crush" being one of the first hit songs on the station.
