NTT Electronics exhibited its HVE9100 Encoder and HVD9100 Decoder at Inter BEE 2008, which was held at the Makuhari Messe convention center. The high quality encoder and decoder have already been used by broadcasting stations abroad to broadcast quick action sports footage via satellites during the broadcast of the Beijing Olympic Games and have demonstrated high reliability and results. The company is now steadily introducing the equipment in private sector broadcast stations in Japan while also striving to grow its business abroad as well. Broadcasting professionals have been demanding equipment that enables high quality video footage transmission during live satellite relays and such using artificial satellites, and in response to this demand, NTT Electronics developed this high-definition HDTV/SDTV encoder and decoder as the world's first encoder and decoder to support the high definition 4:2:2 profile. The equipment supports both MPEG-2 and AVC/H.264 video compression standards and is thereby able to exhibit a high degree of flexibility to support either standard based on the conditions even during the transition period when MPEG-2 and AVC/H.264 are mixed.
