  • @PrivateCustard I guess you could call that vertical take off, but considering that it still needs a short runway, it isn't classified as a VTOL.

    Taking off with a slight forwards roll apparently uses less fuel.

  • @graystang01 The Harrier was getting the job done right up until the day it was mothballed, now we have nothing. There are very few aircraft which have performed as well as the Harrier and for so long, whilst remaining cutting edge. The F-15 springs to mind

    It was an idiotic decision to scrap them when there are so many other areas which need to be looked at first.
