A very sad story about the inevitable demise of Inis Bigil, a small Irish Gaelic-speaking island off the west coast of Ireland.

  • dad still has a lot of the irish about him I am so lucky to have been brought up by Irish parents who love/loved the land of their birth,I could not imagine living on the island and having the hardship that these amazing and beautiful people face, they have fought for so many years to get a cable car but to no avail I am so proud of each and everyone of them

  • @innishbiggle1 Does your dad still have the bit of Irish if ya don't mind me asking? It's a beautiful spot, he's a lucky man to have grown up there!

  • My Father is an Islander who has lived in Edinburgh for years he still goes Home each year to see his sister who still lives on this beautiful Island

  • my mum said she thought that the first polar have come from Spain? could this be true?

  • my mum Anne calvey (deceased since 2008) came from here but like many she went to work in Scotland at 14 yes old. my aunt still has a house there and I have visited a few times-the island us stunning in the summer. I would like to bring my wife to visit some time.
