@MaximumNPP It is sad to me that his career ended this way. I am thrilled that he got the props and the limelight with the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame ceremony which I really enjoyed (except for the fact that Tony and Bobby decided to play a gig instead) Would it have really hurt them to cancel a gig to honor Allan in New York?

Allan is so damn old in this video!!! He is still hot now!!!! :)

Please enlighten me: "his career ended in this way." In what way? I understand that he has retired and being almost 70 years of age (born in 1942), I find that quite natural. Nobody can go on forever.

Allan is looking youthful as the broadcaster says. Nice little snippet. Thanks for this one.
Good gravy! This could be one of the last shows he ever did! I wish the TV company filmed the show as well as that interview. The strange thing is his speaking voice here and on that Channel 4 documentary from around the same time doesn't sound damaged at all...

@MaximumNPP I've just checked the tour schedules from the late 90s, & this is from 16th April 1998. So actually 18 months or so before he retired.

This is how I remember Allan when I saw him live in 1999 at Llandudno, that concert brings back some great memories for me. Thanks Peter for posting this little gem :)

@katdowli Similar memories for me too Kat; I saw The Hollies twice, in Canterbury in 1987 & Margate in 1999.
