This engine is build using the design and plans by Jan Ridders, http://heetgasmodelbouw.ridders.nu/ ,The Netherlands.
Several design changes have been made due to materials at hand, easy mounting/dismounting for cleaning after each run and personal preferences.
The engine does not have a prefered rotation direction.
At 1:52 the flame is blown out, to demonstrate the ramping down and up after re-lighting.

  • How do you like this engine. I'm thinking of making one.

  • @aaronlittell It's a loud and care free runner with a big flame; a winner!

  • Please check the comment provided with the video for more info!

  • I've just moved so I'm not able to make detailed pictures at the moment, but as soon as I have unpacked I will send them to you. Greetings, Jeroen

  • The timing is done automatically by the pressure change. Check the website of the designer (Jan Ridders) for an explanation and animation.

  • Do you have blueprints you'd be willing to share? Ive been looking for some that are this style.

  • Very elegant execution and modification of Jan's design. I am fascinated by your quick connect/disconnect mechanism for the connecting rod and valve push rod. Can you provide a more detailed description of how your quick connect/disconnect works?

  • (I forgot the introduction)

Hi! I have a problem. I made exactly the Jan Riders motor (similar that your video except the flywheel) and not work.

  • I have seen that the valve opens before that the piston hit them (in defect, the residual air pushes the valve, but is like bouncing and you can see a groove an instant after the piston back off and not when the piston come and breathe)

I made the cylinder with no magnetic stainless steel.

I enlarge the flywheel to see if it worked, but not.

    know what can happen?

    Thanks for your time!

  • Lol, fap sounds?

Really nice by the way! :o

  • why was this on my reccomended vidoes ? :L
