Saw this last night. Douglas Hodge was just incredible.Best stage musical I've ever seen.
-
the person they 'picked to sing' happens to be Doulgas Hodge (who, incidentally, won the Oliver award and received huge critical acclaim). I saw Douglas twice before the end of the run and it was one of the greatest performances I have ever witnessed. The 'goat' voice you're referring to is an homage/intertextual reference to Edith Piaf and other cabaret stars.

Amazing! Love it!

you know when you listen to something pretty amazing and you get goosebumps...

Ditch the wigs and the choriography. It's not the dancers' fault.
-
@elzbieta52 I love sub-texting. It makes everything become real =)
-
I really do love this, but I can't help being reminded of Bubbles from Little Britain.
-
such a shame to put norton and hodge on the same stage. Norton was blown out the water!!
-
@actressindemaking that's Olivier and Tony winning Douglas Hodge. Stll playing Albin on Broadway, with Kelsey Grammer as Georges.
-
@elzbieta52 but george hearn was not feminine enough to play Albin well. Hodge is marvellous!!
-
he looks like subo in the second bit
-
George Hearn could give him a few lessons in subtext.
