U.S. Sen. Jim Inhofe (R-Okla.), a senior member of the Senate Armed Services Committee (SASC), questioned NATO's Supreme Allied Commander James Stavridis about al-Qaeda ties among the Libyan rebels during a SASC hearing.

Stavridis indicated that they have seen a "flicker" of al-Qaeda involvement.

Inhofe also questioned if the United States should have more thoroughly vetted that prior to joining forces with the Libyan rebels against Col. Muammar Qaddafi.
