Residents Protest HUD Housing Demolition

Residents and members of Grove Parc Tenants Association, Coalition to Protect Public Housing, Southside Together Organizing for Power & FLY hold a rally and sit-in at HUD offices in downtown Chicago to demand an end to foreclosure on Grove Parc subsidized housing.

While access to affordable, pubic and subsidized housing becomes a national issue in the wake of increased private development and gentrification, these residents speak and act out to save their homes and inform the public.

Housing is NOT a human RIGHT. It's a PERSONAL responsibility. RIGHTS don't have to be funded by others. The sign waivers need to understand the difference between a 'right' and 'welfare'. 'Affordable Housing' = 'welfare' When do people actually take responsibility for themselves, act responsible and have children that they can afford? HUD subsidizes failure.

Why, according to the 2010 census, are 40% of public housing residents black when they only make up 13% of the total population?

I live in Massachusetts and have been on a waiting list for housing for 6 years now. I recieved a letter 2 months ago saying it will be approx 7 - 12 years before my name will come up on the list.

Inspect yourself bigwacker and realize you are a racist. Did you know the racism is the result of ignorance (sometimes passed on down through the generations) and lack of ability to think for yourself. Especially in this case, because whites also live in HUD housing and use Section 8. Educate yourself and discover that people are people and there are "good" and "bad" in every race. AND some people are even good and bad both. So, practice forgiveness and love God. He will bless you for it.
