* I was reminded of this one, from a year ago, after seeing footage of the Toowoomba floods. Awe of nature, indeed *

This is just a ROUGH DEMO. I'm interested in whether you feel that it should be worked up into a finished song. Please excuse the inaudible garbled (gargled?) vocal. It was practically the first time I'd played it through and I was struggling to keep up, find the chords and read the lyric.
Stewart Rodgers (stewze) came up with this lyric. It was a poem he wrote, whilst walking by the sea. He never intended it to be a song. He didn't choose the title.
When Stew shared it with me I jokingly said " Great poem . . . but it'll never make a lyric!"
Well . . how wrong I was! For some reason the words stuck in my head, so I grabbed a guitar & this is what came out. I particulary like the way that ideas are juxtaposed without unnecessary verbiage, which enables you to focus on the meaning.

AUSTRALIAN DREAMER (Awe of Nature/Toowoomba Song)
Words & Music © Rodgers & Fretwell 2009
Awe of nature
Complicity of genes
Miracle of birth
Nothingness is our god
Intelligence of man
Joys of this world
Emotion of love
Chance is our god
Perfection of nature
Perfection of genes
Perfection of birth,
Precision of man
Wonder of emotion
Marvel of this world
THE Creator is my God
I keep forgetting to come play this one through myself, gah! I promise I'll get to it within the next century!

I thought about having another bash at it myself, not so long ago. It has a pleasing simplicity about it and I like the repetitions of 'perfection' :] The *cough* is optional btw :p

I remember first hearing this, I loved the music but didn't think it really went with the words. A couple of months later I've changed my mind. I shall pick up me guitar and have a fiddle, if I find a spare moment on Saturday.
