What did you use to cover up the insert or did you?

@MKotthoff 1. Wide, Clear Packaging tape, 2. overlap on Steel trimmed carefully with a sharp small hobby knife or Scalpel lnife, 3. Adhesive removed with T-shirt cloth and denatured alcohol. Bluing will not react with adhesive spots or through a plastic barrier and turn the copper surface black. Partitioning off the two areas not to be blued is mentioned in the about the putter bluing version of the video.

The club looks great, but how did you get off the pit marks that were on the top of the blade before you blued it?

Do you you mean the silver marks in the bluing at the top? They were rubbed with "final finish" synthetic steel wool and denatured alcohol and then reblued into the same container, but the bluing was not removed. The reblue was not shown, just that it was now fixed. Post -rinse in water and heat-dry with low temperature heat gun same as before.

@jeffc2896 The rust that was in the pitting was removed by spinning stainless wire wheels on a Dremel.

The rust that was in the pitting, not the gouging was removed by spinning stainless wire wheels on a Dremel. All of the metal was silver before bluing.
