@electriktricks i think he just 'makes it up as he goes along', and doesnt think about it, just like he admits!
did his dad teach him anything about photography or was that his assistants? No i haven't seen his earlier work, so i will take your word for it that its better than the current work i've seen. I also suspect he is a monarch programmer and does more with these 'celebs' than just click and shoot.. such is the nature of the media industry these days..

@SovereignBeing lack of technical talent? Have you ever seen terry richardson's older fashion work- he certainly knows how to light and direct for high fashion and his older work shows this. He has pioneered an aesthetic, a style which is distinctly his- so amateurish but made relevant by a lifetime of proficiency behind the lens, this is the photographic equivalent of an artists quick gestural sketch- say what you like about TR as a person, but as a photographer he is very interesting
