IYC takes a walk down memory lane with Philly favorite Jerry Blavat-"The
Geator with the Heater"-as he celebrates 50 years in the radio biz.
Jerry has been on the scene for all the major breakthroughs in music
history, interviewed every major star since Elvis and still enjoys
nationwide popularity today. He shares some of his wildest moments and
we'll hear from some of his old friends!
I married a guy from Trenton, cause I wanted to go on bandstand and was actually in love with Seaside (I grew up in St.Louis) I used to beg my new husband to just drive close enough to Philly to pick up the geator's radio show....we would sit in the cold car and get hot!!!!

I have moved away from Philly but Jerry is seared into my brain, just like soft pretzels and Connie Mack Stadium. Rock on, Boss with the Big Hot Sauce!

I used to go to all the dances like Wagners. I remember the star dancers Eddie Nixon, his brother Bobby and the man I had a great crush on when I was fourteen
Richie Craven. Where has all the time gone. Jerry Blavat's face looks exactly the same.

I have been entertained by Mr. Blavat hundreds of times, but today I met him in my taxi taking him to the Airport. He is genuine, what you see in the limelight is what you get. Very kind and makes your day.

I want to agree and disagree with Mr. Blavat. This is a great interview and topic.

Outside of the classic music, this era will remain young and vibrant for all time.
