Lars Brownworth, author of "Lost to the West: The Forgotten Byzantine Empire that Rescued Western Civilization", discusses the top 5 bad laws of the Byzantine empire that we are happy to leave on the ash heap of history!
2, 3, and 4 are great. I really can't have any respect for people who think they should be able to be corrupt and steal from others, desert their nation's defence or commit adultery (and probably also spread STDs by doing so). Its really pathetic and telling when someone thinks these are "bad" laws, because it betrays the fact that they desire to do such things and fail to see the evil inherent in them, or see it and simply don't care about the impact they have on others.

another one lying about byzantine history.
strictness of law was rarely employed.
only uses a different spin--- western civilisation conceding some things lost to west when in fact everrything was lost to the west
