Niko was due Januaray 23 2008. The pregnancy was wonderful with only a little bit of morning sickness. We were hoping for a homebirth with our midwife and friend, Hope and family ,but on Januaray 5th I became very ill . At my next visit on Monday the 7th blood work was ordered and resulted in finding that I had become pre-eclamic , even though I had not been symptomatic up untill this point.
I was induced the following morning for the safety of our son and myself. I labored on Pitocin and Misoprostole for about 12 hours before considering and receiving the epidural, which to this day has been very hard for me to accept. Than placed on Magnesium Sulfate for 48 hours. My husband was amazingly strong and supportive during the whole laboring process. My best friend Rainie flew in the night before from Texas to be at my side. My Mother-in-love was there to witness the birth of her first Grandson and was my rock during labor. My father was able to be there as well to meet Niko. And our amazing Midwife was able to be there. At 11:25 our beautiful son was born weighing at 4lbs 15.oz .
I am doing great now and my son, who was born with IURG is doing amazing at thriving. Thank God!
Though the birth process was not what we had planned we were accepting of the experience that God gave us. We praise him every day for protecting us from death. We thank our midwife for catching the pre-eclamsia and saving our lives. My experience has inspired me to become a Doula and to help women in labor.

Please read about Pre-eclampsia and IURG. It may save you and your child's life.
