Why are we allowing the rape and depletion of a public resource by those that feel it's their right to make a living?

With no disrespect directed towards the poster of this video, as this experience was probably very interesting, fish trawling is depleting fish stocks all over the world, while wrecking marine floor environments. It is easy for a westerner (me) to take the moral high ground when he doesn't have to worry about his next meal like perhaps many of these Bangladeshi fishermen do, the waste and excess of fish trawling is shocking and disturbing. Think about it.

I was working there helping a local company set themselves up so that they could make profits, yes, but also provide much needed jobs (and food) in an impoverished area. After months of trial and error, I found a few areas at undisclosed depths where the nutrients gathered by the streams from the Himalaya would upwell from the depths, and the waters would team with fish, one of the few sustainable fisheries in the world, and seeing as I chose pelagic gear, no damage was done to the seabed...
