9 AI/105 Lv/3 BVR. How to use Sephiroth (click for more info):
We know that Sephiroth's recovery is terrible, but that is why you don't use him like a headless chicken. I've found out that depending on who you fight, it's fine to go on the constant offensive, despite the generalization that he should be used defensively (guard/dodge, then attack). Against characters that have way shorter range than him, it's alright to constantly attack them since their counters can't even reach you - for example Zidane.
Here's how Sephiroth's moves should be used:
Blade Waves/Aerial Waves - his only good spammable Brave attack. Use it on range without fear of guard deflects. If it does hit and knocks your target down to the ground, follow it up with an Octa Slash. There's virtually no lag between the time your target gets up and before the first Octa Slash hit.
Flashing Blade/Aerial Flashes - should only be used as a counter after a dodge or guard deflect. This should be the attack of choice when your opponent is pummeling you and need to break his HP attack by activating EX Mode. Follow the EX Mode by using this attack; it'll never miss if Sephiroth deflected an attack before using this move in range.
Shadowflare - Don't bother using this. It's slow and perhaps the easiest attack to dodge. It may be okay to use against spellcasters to confuse them, but follow it up with Blade/Aerial Waves if you're going to use it at all.
Iai Slash - a good counter move like Flashing Blade, but slower than Flashing Blade depending on how far you are to your target. It's better to use than Flashing Blade as a counter if you're close though.
HP Attacks
Octa Slash - quite a spammable move, just make sure you're a bit far from your target or risk a counter-attack. It's hard to dodge against when your target is cornered or dodges the wrong way.
Parry Blade - a good move to use if your target is charging towards you. It can deflect many physical attacks and some non-HP magics that only hit once. It needs very good timing to hit with though, and best used against a cornered target.
Black Materia - use it when your target doesn't want to get near you or is far away from you. Also good to use when they're climbing a wall/riding a ledge/any glidable terrain with the triangle. Don't use it on close range though I've had it hit sometimes if the target is using a triangle terrain.
Never mind!!!! It is 8 hits afterall!!
Even if it looks like it's 5 hits.
Sephiroth moves SO fast.
