The US presidential hopefuls share their views on the financial crisis and foreign policy.

The economic crisis dominated the debate as the rivals answered questions from an 80-strong audience during a town hall-style debate in Nashville.

The debate provided the most intimate encounter the two candidates have shared in the course of the campaign.

Al Jazeera's Rob Reynolds reports from Nashville, Tennessee.

  • Obama is just what we needed. McCain is from that old dead in the water school of thought. His bad judgment spoke for itself in the Vice Presidential candidate he selected, the comments he made about the so-called strong economy, and various other things said and done during his campaign. Obama is a brilliant President and crafty politican. McCain is a loose cannon. Sarah Palin continues making an ass out of herself reaffirming McCain's poor judgment. Wake up people or we're all in trouble!

  • 1.) Do u still feel that way after seeing what obama has been doing lately. just curious. I want ur deep honest answer. ( I'm doing a poll for my school. so far 3 to 1 say they are not pleased with him anymore. and I asked a wide variety of ppl ) whats ur opinion. :)

  • Ca. Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger says concessions made to Nebraska Sen. Ben Nelson to win his vote on the health care overhaul bill were a "rip-off" for his state and is urging California lawmakers to vote against it.

In an interview airing Sunday on NBC's Meet the Press, Schwarzenegger says giving extra Medicaid benefits to Nebraska to secure Nelson's vote, critical to Senate passage of the measure, was "like buying a vote." In Sacramento, he says, "it is illegal to do that, to buy votes."

  • McCAIN simply wouldn't be better than Obama becuase Obama was for change and that is what America needed and thats what the world needed

  • @Imat00I

If you read the whole comment thread you'll see that Drammm already pointed out that you included McCain in your little Tirade. I apologize for painting you red, and for calling you stupid, but the tone of your comment seemed to me to lean toward McCain - Obama's campaign didn't accuse anyone of being socialist.

Your comment, however, was/is ignorant. Have you learned what socialism is yet?

  • Tristonaz:

You have only one thing correct dickhead, there's no cure for stupidity so I can only hope that you're sterile or you just die along with the rest of your brood before you can have your first opportunity and that you're the last in your pathetic lineage. I admit this thread is late but couldn't help myself when I just read your bs this morning and that my comment was off the cuff. But I did not mention my politics or prejudices in my comment so go fuck yourself and die asshole.

  • The entire world has been brainwashed.

I can't wait to see what happens in 10 years when everybody looks back at the hellhole they created and the politicians are pointing fingers at each other blaming each other for the mess that will eventually be WWIII.

  • that right whooohoo

  • BARACK OBAMA WON!!!!
