Naginata's are probably the most badass weapons ever.

Looks like Jikishin to me too, some of the cuts I haven't seen in any of the kata but the transition between different kamae and the chiburi look about right.

It looks like she is performing the kata on a "Noh" stage.

The venue is definately Yasukuni Jinja in Tokyo. From the way the naginata is being manipulated, I'd say that it was Jikishinkage-ryu naginatajutsu. The person demonstrating is using a shinken naginata.

It was like an animated tapestry.
Beautiful indeed. It's a bit sad that the quality is so bleh though...
Thanks for posting ^^

this is a shinto purifing ritual(misogi). she cuts down bad kami in al 4 directions. north, south, east and west. it is often done for a demonstration of koryu. or the re opening of a tempel.

Any idea when this video was taken.
Thanks for up loading it BTW
This looks similar to a sort of a christening kata I saw a long time ago... Do you know what it is exactly? Also, I agree with you, the practitioner is very graceful.

No I'm not sure exactly what it is, but she does have a bit of finesse to her.
