In BR Electric Blue Livery, and hauling 'The Cathedrals Express', Class 86 ALC6 AC , 86259 'Les Ross' is seen at Chapel Brampton on the West Coast Mainline in Northamptonshire. Filmed on the 25th August 2011.

The outbound tour ran with headcode 1Z30 from London Euston, via Watford Jc, Milton Keynes, Crewe and Preston with 'Les Ross' in charge. Then BR 7MT Class Pacific, 70013 'Oliver Cromwell' took the train on to Carlisle. The return journey will run under headcode 1Z34, from Carlise to Carnforth with steam in charge and then back to London Euston from Preston with electric traction in charge.

  • @52foxbat This old electric traction seems so much more interesting than what's running on the wcml today. Would have being great to acturally see these when they were in service. Hope you get to see it this evening.

  • @cmeonthemove It probably was the same stock! I was glad to catch this working as I'd wanted to see an 86.

  • Would have liked to see this through Milton Keynes but again at work even tonight it will be dark when returning. Brings back memories when these traversed this line.

  • Looks like the same stock that came up to Norwich behind Briatnnia at the weekend. Nice catch.
