This is a video of my students testing the surface tension of water. The first group uses tap water, and the second uses soapy water. Even though it is not great quality, you should be able to see the difference in how much each penny holds.

I am using a new camera and the focus was not great. Hopefully I will get better as the year goes on.

  • hey!! we did this in class last week it was awesome!

  • awesome

  • Great experiment showing how the soap acts as a surfactant, decreasing the surface tension of the water! We did this in my chemistry class too and had a contest to see who could get the most drops.
