Slice Of Life

What a day it was.
The sun was shining,
the air smelled fresh,
was warm and the birds
were singing.

So I went to the morgue.

The sun wasn't shining in there.
The air, if you can call it air,
was breathlessly heavy and lifeless....
and no one was singing.

I didn't mean to go there.
I meant to go shopping for shoes.

Funny, isn't it,
how we sometimes end up one place,
on our way to another.

I just hope my next stop
goes according to plan.
