@ShelLuser: dozens of objects in the near vicinity? First of all, you might want to be using subpatches. If you have dozens of objects THAT close (it only grabs the closest objects) and that many, subpatches are probably a good idea.

Hm, I have a few doubts still. A lot of this looks nice, but a possible downside could be that Max will also become more resource hungry and I wonder how that is going to turn out. For example it makes me wonder how some of those features (for example auto completion for nearby objects) will behave in huge patches where there are dozens of other objects in the near vicinity. I'd hate to see it slow down my patching capabilities (having to wait for auto completion).
