If you really want to talk basses, especially depth, volume and quality, there are only a few, including JD Sumner, George Younce, Tim Riley, Armond Morales and a much lesser known gentleman from Stilwell, OK,, that I used to sing with, Red Fourkiller, who died in 1994. He could get down with the best of them, and from what I've heard, actually did a few times back in the 60s at the NQC.

Impressed with Holy City Quartet - Mark Fink. Not really familiar with him, so I heard something new. He was solid on those notes. Everyone else, I've heard so many times that I expected those notes.

what happened to Bill Lawrence? Since he left Gold City he kinda vanished. . .anyone know?

He's way...way on down there, that's for sure. Something about it, though. maybe it's the sound equipment they use, for the videos I've seen on youtube, but most of his notes below g1 or so just sound foggy. I think if they put some more treble in the eq for his microphone, it would sound a lot clearer.
Wait wait.. in the last clip, JD's on an E, not an Eb. That's a fact, jack.

@floofytown I think you're right, A little mistake (1st mistake ever with measuring).
But maybe, it's better to be nicer (a little advice)

@rockytenorbanjo Oh hey, I didn't mean to be not nice. Sorry if it came out that way. I can see why you might have made that mistake anyway.. note was a little hard to pin down and I think the song itself was in Eb. But hey, thanks for putting this up with all those notes. It's a great vid! And congrats on your first mistake ever, haha.

@floofytown I'm sorry for my wrong interpetation. It's hard measuring. Cause I really think he lands on an Eb(false) but slide him a little bit up to an E.
