'Maybach music' West Somerset Railway Mixed Traffic Weekend 2009

The West Somerset Railway's summer Mixed Traffic Weekend recalled the classic modern traction of diesel hydraulics that ruled the Western Region of BR from the early 1960's 'till the late 70's.
As well as the additional WSR diesel fleet, the event also guest starred Class 42 Warship D832 Onslaught (on loan from the Bury Hydraulic Group) and Western hydraulic D1062 Western Courier (visiting from the Severn Valley Railway)
The event marked the return of Hymek Class 35 D7017 after a four year overhaul. 60163 Tornado became the only steam loco to be rostered for this event.

The film centres on three former mainline diesel hydraulics, that worked on the western network from 1961 to 1977, The Western, Warship and Hymek.

With a feast of Maybach music it was to be a field day for hydraulic lovers like myself. So just sit back, turn up the sound and enjoy the roaring Maybach hydraulics!

The Hymek was really fun to film, love its maybach thrashes! The headcodes is very interesting, I didn't really take much notice of them, I didn't think Hymeks did crosscountry services from Manchester to the West Country, did they?
