Amtrak Acela at Long Island City, NY

During the N.R.H.S./L.I.S.T. November '06 M1 "farewell" fan trip, we stopped off at Hunters Point. Here I got footage of Acela moving at a slow speed heading into Penn Station via the East River tunnel.

Whoa I didn't notice that until now. I'm sure the engineer or somebody else noticed the problem once they got into Penn and fixed it before heading south to Newark & Philly.

Thanks. That's the beauty of the trackage at LIC - you have LIRR sharing the NEC with Amtrak, and you also have the IRT #7 line.  I only wish Hunterspoint was more accessible to the public.

They actually dont even need the rear power car. They can reach 150MPH w/ only one powercar. So it will most likely be repaired in Washington. However, if it was a minor issue, they may just repair it in NYP
