Drumcultures: Manding Foli Kan Don (1)

Okay. This is the first roll out of a number of videos from a recent performance by Mohamed Diaby's Manding Foli Kan Don. As you'll see this stuff is smokin' hot. Its the kind of artistic performance that through its intensity compels total immersion! I think that ideally there is no audience, ideally the audience would collapse right into the drum and dance! You would be the Manding! I know that if I didn't have to work the cam I'd be up there dancing! At certain points you'll see the cam get a bit wild, that's because the music had such a strong pull. Every Monday night I can hear Manding rehearsing at an African club just down the street from me - in this video I've finally seen some of the results of months of their hard work. This is a sheer delight!

That's a lot of energy!! more than the "stepping to the beat" of a lot of other 'North American' based groups. The last two dancers "Graceful sweat" and "Sproing!ella!" GREAT ENERGY!
