Yes, skype-static-oss is the solution. Thank you for your video instructions. Worked perfectly on my wife's Lenovo laptop. ~Chard on the coast of Oregon.

Do you think this would fix the issue I had when I tried to make a test call and I had an error with sound playback?

Yes and no. Yes in determining which soundcard/mic is to be used is MUCH EASIER. No in that as the video shows you, you need to test the settings...but one of them will work. Watch the video CLOSELY for dsp0 though dsp2.
With a USB headset, you are most likely going to want ringing at DSP and SoundOut/In at DSP1 or DSP2

Actually, if you are using the main speakers for anything while needing to use a USB headset, best do do the ringing through DSP2 as well. Because we are bypassing Pulse while still being able to enjoy its benefits elsewhere, OSS is best left to the USB headset exclusively.
Cheap and simple work around is a cheap set of extra USB speakers - they would be yet another DSP channel that could right while leaving the main sound card alone.

Awesome, glad it is working. I also found that it is not interfering with my main soundcard as I was able to place calls during a flash show on youtube, too. :)
