You are an ass. Steve backed up some of the best recording artists. He played before he did comedy and comedy did not bring him his Grammy for Banjo playing.
If you had any talent you would not need dollars to exploit your lame ass pickins.

@brelfan Pete Wernick I believe.

steve marting is amazing on a banjo, and even more amazing is the support he gives to the bluegrass community. he uses his fame to promote other artists, and is still nervous on stage playing the banjo, no matter who he plays with. its actually impressive to see a performer like him that nervous about any stage.

Who's that second fella? Close to Scruggs quality.

steve marti is a ...umm...well...ok at best. i too am self taught, i just dont have the $ from comedy, or connections from fame to exploit my pickins. he does surround himself with some darn fine pickers though. and Earl is simply "THE MAN"

@bruce8420 Yes but he DID learn Sally Goodin from Mr. Earl Scruggs himself.
@IDmadge I actually liked Paul Schaefer's part! He only played for 30 seconds at best, and he provided an interesting twist to this bluegrass classic. Everyone else got most of the video, and Paul Schaefer's part was not easy in the least. He didn't ruin the video, and he certainly was having fun playing, which, as a musician, I feel is the most important part of music, to have fun. We are all entitled to our opinions, but I personally didn't find Schaefer that bad.
