Simply Brilliant!

@Biggus63 I see your point, Mike was more of a natural than the other two. i am pretty sure that that series is out there some place. I mean every now and than i see clips of it. One day i am sure i will get to see it.

@AIMANALI - I think Lee and Akhtar at their peak were right up there with Mikey although he seemed to do it easily whereas it was a real effort for the other two. I think Lillee before he did hid back in was about that fast as well and when Roberts wanted to he could touch that speed too. The 75/76 series is the most raw and virile test series I've seen. No helmets, minimal protective gear, four of the fastest bowlers to play the game and batting line ups to die for. I've not seen it's equal.
-
@AIMANALI - I don't know about getting footage in the Windies as I'm in West Oz. The footage for the 75/76 series is probably in the ABC2 (Aus broadcasting corporation) archives as it predates Kerry Packer's channel 9 involvement in the game. The only footage I've seen is from an ABC documentary "Cricket in the '70s" and I see you've been there and commented. When a guy like Clive Lloyd says Thommo was dangerous, as he did in that clip, I'm inclined to agree.

@Biggus63 Thx. i mistakenly thought you were from the WI - excuse me lol. Yeah I have heard stories as well of his pace. Richie said Tyson than thommo and Holding same and THAN Akhtar and Lee. I find that hard to believe but not impossible.
-
@AIMANALI - How fast was Thommo in that series? Well, it's the fastest, most hostile fast bowling I've ever seen, even more so than the '80s Windies. He was too quick for the tourists, and they had Roberts and Holding in their side, although it was Mikey's first tour. Even Dennis was still pretty quick and Gary Gilmour bowled wonderfully as well. Thommo's the quickest I've seen by just a little from Mikey Holding but Richie Benaud reckons Tyson was a touch faster and that's good enough for me.

@Biggus63 Thx. I love hearing stories about those years since I have read so much about them. tell me: if I go to West indies will i be able to find footage of all these matches plus matches from the 70s in West Indies (like the Packer 2nd season that was in The WI) ?
Also how quick was thommo in that series and without any bias have you seen any quicker over the years?
thx a million

@AIMANALI -The 75/76 series was my favourite ever, and the 5-1 scoreline belied the closeness of the contest. They absolutely hammered us in the second test at Perth, with Roberts getting 7-57 and Fredericks hitting something like 169, still perhaps the most astounding innings I think I've seen. He made Lillee and Thomson look like trundlers and absolutely murdered them. It was ironic that the tallest building in town was on fire that day. I'll never forget it. Smoke, sirens and Roy Fredericks.

@Biggus63 I wonder if Rob has any footage of that 100 he scored against jeff & Lillee at there quickest, 76 series.ANY shots? Rowe: Holding said that although Viv was greater, Rowe was the best he ever saw when he was at his best !!! I heard that he came to Kerry packer with a great reputation and yet did not live up due to the constant barrage of quick bowlers. Viv, he even said if Lillee had kicked him (like he did Javed) he would not need a bat, his fists would be enough. Thx of the info
He's the greatest batsman i have seen, The Master Blaster Viv...

Yes..please..Gordon's my man. I saw him score only 32 in Chennai 1983-4. The sound of those square cuts still rings in my ears.
