Michael Ball and Imelda Staunton lead a cast of 25 in the captivating musical thriller, Sweeney Todd. Opening at Chichester Festival Theatre as part of Festival 2011, now Stephen Sondheim's 'magnificent masterpiece' (Evening Standard) is set to thrill West End audiences from March 2012 at the Adelphi Theatre.

This wonderfully macabre and gloriously grisly story of betrayal, love and bloody revenge is by Tony Award-winning Stephen Sondheim (Follies, A Little Night Music, Into the Woods).

Sweeney Todd returns home following years of false imprisonment to discover he has been robbed of his family. Reunited with his beloved razor, and accompanied by pie-shop owner Mrs Lovett, a sinister partnership forms in his quest for revenge, resulting in fatal shaves and meat pies with a difference.

Making their Chichester debuts are Michael Ball (Hairspray, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, The Phantom of the Opera) as the infamous Sweeney Todd and Oscar-nominated Imelda Staunton (Vera Drake, Harry Potter, Guys and Dolls, Into the Woods) as Mrs Lovett.
