This film, narrated by Clare Balding, looks at the issues affecting dog health and wellbeing in this country and what is being done in 2012 to help ensure that dog welfare stays at the top of the agenda.

'Dogs -- A Healthy Future', focuses on the main issues that affect dog health and welfare, including hereditary diseases, issues created by breeding dogs for the way that they look and the problem of cruel puppy farms that breed dogs for profit without regard for their health and welfare.

The film explores the steps that have already been taken to address these issues and the need for united action in order to ensure that the progress continues in 2012.

  • This needs to be presented on the media that reaches most homes..television .

  • @pinkydibs We'd love to see this on general TV but it’s very difficult to get balanced or good news stories onto national TV, which has to maintain the interest of a very wide audience. However, we're in discussion with various people who may be interested in spreading the word about the film and more updates will follow about engaging the general public! For now help us to spread the word by Facebooking and tweeting links to the film so that it gets widespread currency online.

  • Ive got an Idea!! Why not just stop breeding and got to the RSPCA or dogs trust and get an unwanted and abandond dog! Problem Sorted!!

  • When you have top breeders refusing to allow their top stud dogs to be tested for genetic defects that are currently destroying the breeds and the KC only advising rather than enforcing these tests, then the KC is failing in its main responisibility. As the previous top vet of the RSPCA said, the KC should be torn down and an organisation that really cares about the health and livelyhood set up in its place. Advising is pointless when breeders make such large profits from top dogs.

  • Total propaganda for the KC, watching PDE on the bbc reduced me to tears, these dogs are not healthy & it's a terrible scandal that they allow this to continue!

  • As everyone is entitled to their own opinion I feel very much the Kennel Club is doing the best they can, even the reputable breeders. Some people often forget that there are people who are certain HUGE breed fanciers, they are people whom understand the breed's history, breed standard, temperament, and even health. Regardless of what kind of breed there is, the fanciers just love their breed the way they are. For the haters, don't hate. I'm also not in denial, and don't judge me.

  • In My Opinion people who breed dogs knowing of the suffering they will have should be banned from having them.

Watch the 'predigree dogs exposed' program, see things as they really are.

  • Great advert

  • I found 'Pedigree Dogs Exposed: Three Years On' highlight important issues that certainly needs to be addressed with some breeders and The Kennel Club HOWEVER it was incredibly one sided and failed to raise the points The Kennel Club has addressed.

People have to remember, it is entertainment in the end and if they throw in unbiased debated issues on the GOOD points as well as the bad points within breeding and standards then the program just wouldn't be as 'entertaining' to the viewers.

  • If the KC stopped registering unhealthy, inbred and unfit for function puppies just watch how fast the breeds would change back into healthy dogs with good temperaments that make good pets. Show dog conformation should be based FIRST on health, then on function and last on looks. The KC could have brought this in 3 years ago but claim breeder backlash is reason for not doing so, is it a regulatory body or not? Perhaps the KC is not fit for function.

  • What a load of vapid nonsense this is.
