Finally got around to making a new top for the router table. It still needs sealing, and I'm also going to make new fronts for the fence. I'll upload another video once I've done it.

  • Thanks for the help did you varnish the mdf table to make it slippery or did you just leave it from West Yorkshire

  • @JohnWoodturns645 It was polished with 3 coats of a good beeswax polish. Every now and then I put another light coat on it.

  • nice vid. what did you use to bypass the power switch on the router? and where might i get one? thanks.

  • @stewtrek I was going to remove the switch and hard wire it, but in the end I just used a small spring clamp to hold it in. It works well.

  • Can you show the car jack how it operates the router?

  • @benny5825 Basically you remove the locking lever on the router. This allows it to still be sprung loaded, but not capable of locking. Then bolt the jack to the shelf under the router, and add a wooden block to the top of the jack. As long as you position the jack correctly it's easy to use it to lift the router up and down. I fitted a large turned wooded knob to the jack to screw it up and down. It's surprisingly easy to accurately adjust the router. I'll take video when next at the workshop.
