One in four women will experience a miscarriage. Miscarriage is a traumatic time in a woman's life. Not all miscarriages resolve by themselves: some are missed or incomplete and may require active treatment. This clip explains the different options and their pros and cons to women who are in a difficult period in their lives and may feel too overwhelmed to do the research themselves. Although D&C/D&E is considered standard care, complications which impair fertility may occur, including Asherman's syndrome. Medical management and expectant management are other options. It is important for women to be told about all of the options. Losing one's fertility after a miscarriage due to standard care is a devastating experience- and avoidable.
