You could call a photograph or a video recording a form of Time Travel (or maybe Past Time Observation?) as you are viewing events in the past however we are incapable of interacting with or effecting anything in that kind of medium. Given that humans are capable of recording present events and viewing them later then I'd assume in some way the universe keeps a constant 'recording' of the past. Now whether we can ever view it or interact with it is completely different.

@LordBalto although a UFO moving faster than the speed of light could travel through time (with some affects to mass), the earth is not the cause of a warp in space time, matter causes this warp which is why the earth orbits the sun, because the sun warps space time just like the why the moon orbits the earth. However, this platform would have to be outside of space entirely for it to be a time machine without going faster than the speed of light

@LordBalto that's not exactly true, yes it could be possible to time travel in a UFO f said UFO can travel faster than the speed of light, but even then traveling that fast would affect any mass, also when you look at the universe the earth is a very small part so the UFO would have to be completely outside of space. Space is even between galaxies so there would be nowhere in which you could escape space time

@ReductioAdAbsurdum Considering that the earth moves in space while traveling through time, you would have to have a platform that wasn't attached to the earth, so yes, UFOs could very well be time machines.

@Gormanmod - in case that wasn't clear - did you mean gravity can alter time, like if for example there was an alteration in gravity near a planet, and instead of that planet taking the usual 10 minutes to turn x-amount of degrees on its own axis, it took 10.5 minutes instead*? Cause if you don't mean it in that way, then I don't know what you mean then.

*just presuming you measured it using an Earth-Solar clock / timepiece, itself not affected by that gravity change on the measured planet

@Gormanmod - unless you mean gravity changes it, as in it alters the rates of (for example) planetary rotation, orbit, the sun's orbit around the galaxy - then how does gravity actually change time?

I realise that at the end of the all, we rely on our sensory input to also build and interpret any instruments of measurement of anything, but I mean the above within the context of times passage = movements of eg Earth around Sun and so forth.

@DracOverLordHaton Yea, no. Time is the same everywhere except where gravity changes it. The only think is we measure it. It's like inches and meters. It's all the same shit, just the two points dividing it are set differently.
