This video was made for a class called "Experimental Video." For this project, we were given a CD of sounds, and these were the only sounds we could use for the soundtrack, although we were allowed to edit them as much as we wanted. The visual was completely up to us.
I decided to make it a real "experiment" and made the entire video track in Final Cut Pro, with no visual media from external sources. That means I didn't record anything with a camera, download it from the Internet, or draw it. Everything was created with Final Cut's built-in features such as test patterns and titles.
I got some criticism for having the word "ART" displayed the whole time, I guess because it mocks video art. I don't see anything wrong with it. I find a lot of video art fascinating, but I also think that artists take themselves way too seriously. And if I want to make fun of my own art, then so what?
The video is supposed to be as if the computer was given the CD of sounds and told to make "art." Oh, and the F25 thing was a reference to one of the videos we watched in the class. Someone hit the "F25" key on the keyboard and crazy stuff happened.

i love it, i love it. I am a big fan of the video signal. I don't do any video experimental but I do videos related to my fascination to this signal.

very nice. a perfect example of "less is more". I suspect the criticism about the word art was due to lack of anything else to pick on. "It's there, so I'll complain about it" I suspect the cd of sounds was used to prevent canned music or any other audio that would too easily become the subject of the piece. Your experiment was a success.
