Caloric burn test....two test tubes filled with identical amounts of water measured in Cubic centimeters. I dentical amount of combustible gas. same method, distance from heat source etc.
Then measure the tempurature rise in each (of course you would have a temp. reading of the room temp water BEFORE the test.) if you used one cubic centimeter of water then the caloic measurment would be ONE calorie per degree in CELCIUS. 10 cubic centimeters of water wold rise 1 degree C in a 10 calorie burn

try polorising the water prior to insertion into the tank ... if u can afford the magnets

maybe adjust voltage to the lowest level that produces bubbles acceptably, with lowest temperature increase, for each metal separately. See which one makes a liter for the lowest Energy (power x time). If they are equal , maybe it's in a range that is a straight electron-for-ion molar ratio. Stanley Meyer added AC pulses to get out of this band. Lower Volts across blasted plates may be coronal discharge lowers eff. dielectric strength of water. Thanks for neat videos. Kelly S.

Make a torch and measure the flame?
With you bang test you not knowing if the containers are evenly balanced.
with a torch test you can regulate the same presser and volume rate and do several test with the flame.

FWIW maybe a better comparison with gases, is a heat test. Not the easiest test, but maybe more useful than a explosion (noise) test.
Time taken to heat water with A HHO torch. The torch will have to be modified so you can actually submerge it under water. adjust mixture with air so no unburned hho gas escapes in the form of bubbles.
Then just test the time it takes to heat the water form one give temperature to the other.
Time to heat 1 gallon of water from 70 F to 100 F

Nice work with the comparison. very interesting. I first assumed both cells are identical except Nickel vs SS. but you say the SS is textured but you did not mention the weather the Nickel was textured. Are they identnickel?

Excellent technique you are answering the need for proper recording Thankyou

*ahem*... for the record, I changed from electrical engineering to business, but I still love engineering and science. I just couldn't hack it in the classes, lol. They're too hard core for me.
Cheers!
Good testing! What grade of Nickel did yo use? That could make a difference grades don't have as much nickel in the plates. I don't know how you broke the plates in but Bob Boyce would go through a break in process on stainless and the plates would get coated with a powder of some sort. something like an oxide coating. This raised the efficiency.

@moffett8 nickel 270. The nickel plates just need to be cleaned. alcohol works great. No break in is needed.

Try removeing 1 plate from nickel cell, just for kicks...

no need to remove a plate. I can control my voltage from the power supply.

I wonder what nickel plated copper plates would do??

I have given a lot of thought to that idea. I'm told the anode cannot be plated. the plating will come off and deposit on the cathode. What about nickel clad material? I would like to get my hands on some of that. Also a nickel anode and an nickel electroplated copper cathode would be a cool test. talk about conductive.
