Thank you Brian 740 for posting this video. Frank Hittner was my dad and I used to see him play with this incarnation of the MF Band many times as a little girl. Usually my grandparents took me to see him on the Steel Pier or the Starlight Ballroom that was in Hershey. As a child I couldn't tell who was a good player and who wasn't. They were just Daddy's friends. Thanks for reviving these memories.

@bebopjim Its Rufus "speedy" Jones on drums,
Buddy rich gave him that nick name.

This is probably 1963 - - = Clarence "Speedy"Jones on Drums - Lanny Morgan on Alto - Joe Farrell (The Pharoah) on Tenor - Frank Hittner on Bari and Jaki Byard on Piano.. I wish I could remember the Bass player. This is when Maynard's band was one of the truly great jazz bands out there.

I don't know who's on the drums, but dang!

Joe Farrell on tenor
Wonderful vintage post! I remember this band and wasn't that Sal Nistico on tenor solo? Maynard's music was an inspiration and a joy for me these last almost 50 yrs.
