Since the end of 2006, a "Microsoft evangelist" blog proposes a video that includes some of our augmented reality flyers. Here is a focus on one of these flyers.

It shows that with photos with enough content, you can do as well as AR-Toolkit in similar conditions, if not better (you can put your fingers on the flyer and still track).

One photo is taken from an ad for a French car, the other is a view at night from a bank at the center of Paris.

  • this is not poseble with a iphone?

  • The advertising potential in this video is awesome! Imagine getting AR junk mail. LOL. At least it'd make checking the mail worth more than getting bills. I'm gonna make an AR advertising firm. Free downloadable app for cellphone. Just point your phone at a company's print ad in a magazine & blamo! AR product demo!

  • dude cool work, is awesome i just started making A.R. and i`m light years behind

  • Well, in short, yes. But actually CPU and GPU are two different beasts, so the processing power cannot be distributed so easily.

  • i am guessing the simpler a target marker -the less fuzzy logic needed- and the more polygons can be rendered without increasing latency and decreasing the fps.

  • There are many different ways to use photos instead of markers, Bazar is one of them. You'll surely understand that the advantage and disadvantage of these different techniques is a too touchy topic to discuss here publicly.

  • Correct me if I am wrong... Does this use Bazar? With the ARtoolkit the camera needs markers but Bazar can calibrate to other photos.

  • AR stands for Augmented Reality. You should check it out its cool stuff. Live 3D with motion tracking.

  • Check all my other videos, there's not a single marker in a black square, we're using the photos directly.

  • See, the marker is made on the same material a photo is, and is the size of the photo. So it looks and feels exactly like a photo when it is NOT. That's my crazy philosophy anyways.
