perhaps it shows the end result of the wickedness of the human heart polluted in sin. Unrestrained wickedness left to its own desires leads even to the slaughter of innocent children. Should we not be reminded (or even educated if learned of for the first time) of what sinful mankind is capable of? If this bothers you (as it should), then learn and understand history.
