I take EVE as seriously as a game of chess in that, while playing, it is an absorbing activity that requires much if not all of my concentration to actually accomplish my goals. However when not playing it has no real bearing on my 'outside' life.

And just like a game of chess, EVE takes concentration, planning, and strategy in order to accomplish anything of value. I have yet to meet anyone under the age of 15 on EVE online, where as there are thousands of toddlers on WOW.
