DOCUMENTARY FILMMAKERS STATEMENT OF BEST PRACTICES IN FAIR USE

ONE: EMPLOYING COPYRIGHTED
MATERIAL AS THE OBJECT OF SOCIAL,
POLITICAL, OR CULTURAL CRITIQUE

DESCRIPTION: This class of uses involves
situations in which documentarians engage in
media critique, whether of text, image, or sound
works. In these cases, documentarians hold the
specific copyrighted work up for critical analysis.

PRINCIPLE: Such uses are generally permissible
as an exercise of documentarians fair use rights.

TWO: QUOTING COPYRIGHTED
WORKS OF POPULAR CULTURE TO
ILLUSTRATE AN ARGUMENT OR POINT

DESCRIPTION: Here the concern is with material
(again of whatever kind) that is quoted not because
it is, in itself, the object of critique, but because it aptly illustrates some argument or point that a filmmaker is developing.

PRINCIPLE: Once again, this sort of quotation
should generally be considered as fair use.

  • @sarathomas208 I didn't see this episode, although I wish I had. It would seem me that this particular episode is veering towards the right. I think abortion is very wrong. But I also think that putting a hit on an abortionist is also wrong. I also think that agitation, either on the left, e.g. Planned Parenthood, or to the right a la "Tiller the Baby Killer" O'Reilly is wrong.

  • Many sources can be referenced for the script. Regardless of the source(s), the statements are true and not obscene.

  • Amen to that! That's so funny bc not too long ago I heard the same news on moody radio that more and more american teens even, are becoming pro-life now.

  • this episode is full blown pro life propaganda....45min of trying to justify killing the doctor, how godly of them to do so. though this trend of tv shows going left is troubling to say the least

  • I was an extra onthis episode

  • AMEN BRO!!!

  • Yep, and it's all true!

  • iinteresting
