Dave makes a perfectly round wood ball on his VB-36 wood lathe. . Part 1 set up and cutting is now avallable. This is an easy way to make a turn a perfectly round ball.

  • Watching the effort you put into the sphere made me think of an old production woodturner in Brisbane named Jack Edwards, who did some work for me. He had massive old lathes with 10 x 3 inch beams on the front of a bench for the bed. He used to turn ball tops for posts out of 5 x 5 stock (Hardwood) he would not make more than a dozen deep cuts and then would test the shape with a steel template then finish with a hand full of shavings. They were perfect, took less than 2 min and used one chisel
